Ken Cullen II led us in the Pledge of Allegiance this morning. It was followed by a prayer by Ken Cullen.

Fines were opened and there was no escaping the abuse of fines from the ex-king, John Losinski who out-bid everyone for the crownin Matt Mrasek’s absence. The best fine of the day came from Lynn Eastman when he fined our newest member, Kim Banat, for having better attendance than her sponsor, Matt Mrasek.

Meeting Notes

President Greg Hilliker informed us of the Board Meeting coming up on September 25 at 6:15 pm at the Bridge.

Kim Banat’s Optimist International Welcome Packet arrived and was presented.

The Installation Banquet for 2014/2015 will be held tonight, September 18 starting at 6:00 PM at Ruggero’s Restaurant located at 5311 W Corunna Rd, Flint, MI 48532.

We discussed ticket sales to the $5000 Raffle. There is a count-down timer on our website. All members were reminded to sell, sell, sell. But most importantly, turn in the money ASAP. It is extremely important to return any unsold tickets, sooner rather than later.

Two appreciation shirts from Family Fun Day at the Bridge Church were offered to anyone that wanted them.

Walt Widder let us know that quarterly invoices are are their way.

Speaker Chair for the month of October was divided up. On September 25th, our speaker will be someone from the Flint River Watershed Coalition.

John Schmitt is now the proud owner of $13.50, which is his half of the 50/50 drawing.

Shirley Cochran from Motherly Intercession was our speaker this morning. She describes her passion the non-profit she founded as tenacious. Detailed information about the organization can be found at their website miforu.org.

2014 - AD - E-INVITE - INVITATION

Shirley reported that there are approximately 56,000 children with parents in jail and that 52% of incarcerated men and women are parents. Motherly Intercession is an after-school tutorial program on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The children are always given a well balanced meal prior to starting homework.

Shirley’s goal is quality over quantity. She would rather do a great job mentoring a smaller number of children. Statistics about the number of children that have been help can be found on their website. Click here Invitation Letter to see the invitation to their November 1st event.
