Susana Wight, Vice President for Sales and Marketing of the Flint City Bucks, came to speak this morning of the new high=caliber soccer (“football”) team in town Brought here by the the former President of the Firebirds hockey team, the Bucks played their first game on May 4 and will have their first home game in Atwood Stadium on Saturday evening. A “major feeder to the MLS“, the Bucks had 5 players step up to the elite level last season and hope to replicate a long and successful history in our area. The team started in Saginaw 23 years ago when Dan Duggan (brother to Detroit mayor) owned it and has already put 5000 fans in Kettering University‘s clean and safe sports venue with Whaley kids proud of designing the team logo. Our Club members are invited to attend the game with Chicago at 11:oo a.m. on Tuesday, May 21 (“School Day” for all young kids to get in free, and I think Susana might think we could use some mature role models). Thanks, Bill Reaves, for your Speaker Chair work!

President Phil Holmblade used his gavel to ring the meeting to order, asked Greg Hilliker to lead the Pledge of Allegiance and Ken Cullen to say grace, then was promptly fined for failing to introduce his guest (and wife, Pama) and got all his money back in the 50/50 pot at the end of the meeting. Bill Hentgen reported approximately $500 in revenue generated by the most recent Masonic Temple Chicken Dinner, Jeff Dennings is trying to sell off some of his eggs and even some of his chic, kens, Ron Ballard‘s grand-daughter continues to “the Nationals” with her collegiate tennis victories and Ken Cullen’s grandaughter continues to excel in volleyball, and King Jeff Dennings continues to keep me putting dimes into the pot like I am a slot machine addict!

Walt Widder golf outing is September 14, so line up teams and hole sponsors for this fundraiser!

Until next time, “Promise Yourself…
