We had another great morning of fun at our meeting this morning. Dr. Jack took a lot of abuse regarding his shirt or perhaps it was something he borrowed from his wife. It would have glowed in the dark had our meeting been at night. Way to be a good sport Dr. Jack! John Losinski won the 50/50 and graciously donated it to the club.
Children’s Miracle Network is June 1 at 8am. The $5000 raffle committee met after breakfast this morning. I just got a call from Dr. Jack that Special Olympics have been cancelled for tomorrow. There is no rescheduled date at this point. Merger with downtown optimist group is moving along with some questions yet to be answered. For those who pledged money for the golf outing replacement with Mic, please try to have it in by June 1.
Ellen Brothers from UM brought a letter of thanks from Susan Limberg who was one of our scholarship recipients. Ellen also introduced Grace Carey to the club. She is another scholarship recipient. Grace did a great job of telling of her involvement with different organizations in Flint. She has a degree in Political and legal anthropology/sociology. Her involvement is different clubs was to understand where these people’s views came from and better to work for improvement in our city. One of her main concerns is the river dam that runs through the UM campus. It is need of a lot of repair or replacement. If it were to fail it would cost 200 million in damages and possibly 200 lives. Carey has also worked with the Flint Master Plan committee. Her presentation proved that our donations are given to very deserving students.
Hope to see you next week. Until then promise yourself:
