Pete Venos led us in the Pledge of Allegiance this morning.  Greg Hilliker provided the opening prayer.

Fines were opened and I must say that none of them were memorable.

50/50 Winner was Steve Schlott for half of the $26. Once again those tickets that belonged to the other club produce a old Breakfast Club winner!

Meeting Notes

Nut Sale orders will not be in prior to Thanksgiving.

The next board meeting will be held 6:00 PM November 20th at the Bridge Church.

Our annual Breakfast with Santa for students of the Michigan School for the Deaf will be held on December 18th. a signup sheet will be sent around at breakfast next week.

Joe Bushey, our speaker chair for November, introduced our speaker Jamie Gaskin from the United Way of Genesee County. Jamie is their Chief Executive Officer. He has been with the United Way for about two years now. The United Way has been helping Genesee County residents for 92 years.

For several years the organization has been experiencing declines in donations. A new Board of Directors was brought on to assess the problems and to formulate a new strategy for a new era. Four areas that could provide the best possible benefits to our community were identified. Health, Education, Financial Stability and Basic Needs were laid out as the new Community Impact Strategies. Click here to see more detail about these strategies.

Organizations that the United Way had been supporting were given notice that they would have to start applying for money and that the use of the funds would need to show relavency with the new strategies set forth. The transition period and funds were provided to them. In response to all this new blood, donations are no longer declining and are now on the rise. The United Way of Genesee County is looking for opportunities to present their new strategies to companies and organizations. With each presentation comes an increase in giving.
